The COVID-19 pandemic proved a huge challenge on the educational system, leading to closures of schools, colleges, and higher institutions of learning for academic activities in the nation and the world at large. Most governments around the world closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. These nationwide closures have strongly affected hundreds of millions of students worldwide due to the inability to access learning environments.
We Did It
In our effort to bridge the divide and make learning accessible to our dear students and fulfilling our promise on our approach to learning, IT-Driven Outcome-Based Education, with the full support of the team members of the ICT department of the institution and other members of staff, we utilized technology for remote learning and ensured academic activities continued using technology-based virtual learning tools for lectures and as well examinations. We were able to complete academic activities for a semester despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Challenges
Poor network connectivity and power outages were a problem for some of our students. Some also complained about the high cost of internet data from network service providers. We appreciate and commend the patience and dedication of our parents, with their support we were able to push through these hurdles. Though it was challenging, it was a really fun experience.
What Next?
It is with great joy we announce to our dear students, parents and members of staff that academic activities will resume in the school premises with respect to the alleviation of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We are set to help our students adjust back to learning in academic environments while we still continue to further accelerate and utilize the aspects of technology-based learning.
