The world globalizes as a result of the collapse of barriers to cross-border trade in goods and services, and advancement in technology and communication, resulting in the evolution of diverse challenges. These challenges sometimes threaten human health directly or influence its determinants. It has become obvious that the determinants of health are complex and sometimes transcend national boundaries, which require an interdisciplinary approach to tackle.
The Center for Global Health at Anchor University exists as a centre of excellence to contribute to improvement in health and health systems globally through high-quality interdisciplinary research, knowledge generation, capacity building, advocacy and engagement in evidence-based interventions.
We hope to promote excellence in research, capacity building and global engagement through the following objectives:
providing a clear context for excellence in global health research, educational activities, and interventions in Africa and beyond
facilitating collaborative and interdisciplinary research on local and global health issues, and enhance research capacity and infrastructure
pioneering high quality and innovative research and provide short and long-term education and capacity building in the field of global health, thereby building a center of excellence in Nigeria and Africa
building strong academic networks and rewarding partnerships for sustainable collaborations
facilitating knowledge management and progression from research to action for the benefit of the society, through sustainable interventions
