The Registry Department was established in 2016 hence was one of the foundation Departments of the University. The Registry is the engine room, heart-beat and nerve centre of administration of Anchor University. As a critical component of the University, the Registry plays a pivotal role in driving the vision of the institution which is to be a citadel of learning for holistic human transformation and development. In achieving this vision through its mission, the role of the Registry cannot be over-emphasized. The Registry operates through different Divisions.
UNITS
At present, the Registry is located on the fourth floor of the Administrative Block from where it spreads its tentacles to every part of the University. As the nucleus of the University’s administrative activities, it is manned by a high calibre of staff for enhanced service delivery. The Department is headed by the Registrar who is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University. He is assisted by other various officers at different levels. Because of the nascent nature of the University, the Divisions and Units are headed by Senior Assistant Registrar, Assistant Registrars and Administrative Officers. At present we have four Divisions in the Registry namely:
- Human Resource
- Academic Affairs
- General Administration
- Student Affairs
Human Resource – This is the personnel division and it is broadly divided into Senior Staff and Junior Staff Units. The job of the Division starts from the point of placing advertisements for the recruitment of staff, long listing, shortlisting, conducting interviews, issuing letters of appointment, processing confirmation of appointments, promotion, regularization, posting, discipline, et cetera.
Academic Affairs – The Division is one of the most sensitive sections of the Registry. It is broadly divided into two: The Examinations and Records, and The Admissions Units. While the Examinations and Records Unit handles all issues dealing with student documents/records like personal details, credentials submitted during registration, processing application for Statement of Results, Certificates and Transcript, et cetera. The Admissions Unit, on the other hand, takes charge of all admissions into the University whether through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), UMTE or Direct Entry through the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) programme. At present, the Units are headed by Administrative Officers II.
General Administration – The General Administration is another important division in the Registry. It is so-called because of the general nature of its activities. Among others, the Division is responsible for the environmental sanitation of the campus. Most of the staff in this Division are Office Assistants. The Division is headed by an Administrative Officer II.
Student Affairs Division – This Division is attached to the Student Affairs Directorate which is currently being headed by Acting Deans. The Head of the Registry Division in the Directorate is headed by an Assistant Registrar. He operates with other complements of staff in the Division such as an Administrative Officer II and Administrative Assistant. The Division also has two Units under it namely: the Guidance and Counselling Unit and the Halls of Residence.
Faculty Registry – Each of the Faculties has a Registry Unit attached to it. The Unit is responsible for handling all administrative activities of both staff and students in the Faculties. The Unit is coordinated by a Faculty Officer (F.O.) who acts like the Faculty Registrar who though is responsible to the Dean, in actual sense, serves as the Registrar’s representative in the Faculty. Currently, each Faculty Registry is headed by an Administrative Officer II.
Legal Unit – The Legal Unit was borne out of emerging realities in the University. The Unit handles all legal matters in the University. An Administrative Officer II (Legal) coordinates the activities of the Unit being supervised by two legal luminaries in the University who are senior Lawyers but also lecturers.
