UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
1. THE UNIVERSITY
Anchor University, Lagos (AUL), is a private faith-based University owned by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry and licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for operation in 2016. AUL has the vision to be a citadel of learning for holistic human transformation and development anchored on the wheels of Character, Competence and Courage.
THE POSITION AND DUTIES OF THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
The University Librarian is the academic and professional Head of the University Library and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and management of the University Library and its branches, providing Library and Information services for the entire University community.
The candidate applying for the position of University Librarian must meet the following criteria:
1. The candidate must be a person of proven integrity, possess high moral character, an excellent manager of human resources, and a team player. He must be a person with proven leadership qualities and great inter-personal skills.
2. The candidate must understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of harnessing the potentials of subordinates to attain the overall goals of the University.
3. The candidate must have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University.
The candidate must be visionary, innovative, of high integrity with excellent interpersonal communication. He must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people, especially the library staff and users. He/she must fully understand the complexity of the University System and must be able to effectively utilize its human resource to develop a library system that will fully support the aspirations of the University to attain world class status.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess a good honours degree from a recognized University, a Master degree and PhD in Library and Information Science or its equivalent and must have had not less than fifteen (15) years of relevant post-graduation experience, in University or comparable institution, with a minimum of five (5) years at the Management level. He must also show evidence of active research publication supported by a substantial number of scholarly publications in reputable Journals.
The candidate must be a certified Librarian with evidence of membership of recognised professional bodies (e.g. Nigerian Library Association (NLA) etc). He/she must be ICT compliant and able to move the University towards virtual library application and platforms.
AGE REQUIREMENT
Candidate must be in excellent physical and mental health as at the time of assumption of duty or as may be determined by the Governing Council.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The appointment shall be for a single tenure of five (5) years with a remuneration package which is comparable to other Universities in Nigeria, and as approved from time to time by the Governing Council of Anchor University. The appointment shall also attract privileges, benefits and associated perquisite of office as obtainable in Nigerian Universities.
