Message from the Vice-Chancellor

Welcome to Anchor University, Lagos, a distinctive citadel of learning committed to shaping lives, advancing knowledge and transforming society.

At Anchor University, we believe that the true measure of a university is not merely the number of degrees it awards, but the quality of lives it transforms, the knowledge it generates, the leaders it raises and the impact its graduates make in the world. This conviction lies at the heart of our vision: “To be a citadel of learning for holistic human transformation and development.”

Our University was established with a clear and compelling purpose—to provide an education that combines academic excellence with godly character, practical competence and responsible leadership. We are building an institution where faith and learning are not separated, where intellectual curiosity is encouraged, where research addresses real-world challenges, and where innovation and entrepreneurship are harnessed for human and societal advancement.

From the Chancellor

Welcome from the Chancellor

Pastor (Dr.) W. F. Kumuyi Pastor (Dr.) W. F. Kumuyi Chancellor, Anchor University Lagos

I welcome you to Anchor University, Lagos, an institution founded with a clear vision: to make a distinctive contribution to the advancement of education, the transformation of lives and the development of society.

From its inception, Anchor University has been conceived as more than an addition to the growing number of universities in Nigeria. It was established out of a deep conviction that the quality of a society is significantly influenced by the quality of its universities. Our nation and our world need universities that are not only functional, but also productive and development-driven—universities that generate knowledge, nurture character, produce solutions and prepare people who can provide responsible leadership. This is the foundation upon which Anchor University stands.

We believe that the light of knowledge should illuminate the mind, enlarge human capacity, develop professional competence and empower individuals to make meaningful contributions to every sphere of human endeavour. But knowledge without character can be misdirected. Consequently, our commitment is to an education that develops the whole person—intellectually, morally, spiritually and socially.

Anchor University therefore seeks to raise graduates who combine Character, Competence and Courage: people who are intellectually grounded, morally sound, professionally equipped and courageous enough to stand for truth and serve humanity.

As the University continues to grow, we remain committed to academic excellence, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and global engagement. We seek to contribute ideas and solutions to both longstanding and emerging challenges in science and technology, the arts, humanities, social sciences and every other field of human endeavour.

The journey before us is great, but the purpose is greater. By God's grace, Anchor University will continue to be a place where knowledge illuminates, character transforms, competence empowers and courage inspires.

May every Anchorite who passes through these gates become an instrument of positive transformation, carrying the light of knowledge and the values of integrity into Nigeria and the wider world.
