Professor Chioma Kanu Agomo
Dean, Faculty of Law
Professor Chioma Kanu Agomo is a Professor of Law and a graduate of Queen Mary, University of London. She has extensive experience in legal education, labour law, human rights, gender and the law, and university administration. She is a Fulbright Scholar and has published widely in national and international journals and books. She has also served in several academic and professional leadership positions.

About the Faculty
About the Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law, Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, commenced operations following the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2022 and the Council of Legal Education in October 2023. Lectures commenced in January 2024 with the pioneer cohort of 38 students.
The Faculty is committed to providing professionally oriented legal education that combines academic knowledge, practical skills, ethical values and Christian character. It provides students with a supportive environment for learning, research, professional development and practical legal training.
The Faculty is located in Block A of the University campus and is equipped with facilities including a Law Library, E-Library, Moot Court, Law Clinic, Research and Policy Centres, Student Chambers and Students' Common Room.

Department of Private and Property Law

Acting Head of DepartmentDr. Folasade Folake Aare
The department covers areas including Family Law, Legal Drafting and Conveyancing, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Its academic activities also address the protection of vulnerable persons and contemporary developments in private law.
Acting Head of DepartmentDr. Anthony Sunday Aladekomo
The department focuses on areas including human rights law, religion, environmental law, legal and judicial ethics, and related areas of public law. Dr. Aladekomo is a Senior Lecturer, researcher, author and Notary Public of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The Faculty runs a single undergraduate programme, the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). The two departments primarily provide academic and administrative structures for the programme.
The LL.B. programme provides students with a broad foundation in legal knowledge, professional ethics, critical thinking and practical lawyering skills.
The standard programme is five years for students admitted through the regular entry route. Successful Direct Entry candidates are admitted into 200 Level and complete the programme in four years.
The Faculty currently does not offer postgraduate programmes.
Practical legal education
Practical training is an important component of the Anchor University Law programme. Students gain experience through the Faculty's:

Professional and court visits
Conferences, workshops and sensitisation programmes
Internship and professional placement opportunities
The Law Clinic serves both as a teaching laboratory and a centre for legal services. Students, under professional supervision, participate in legal aid, client counselling, mediation and community-based activities. The Clinic also works with external organisations on access-to-justice initiatives.
The Faculty's Moot Court provides students with practical training in advocacy and other essential lawyering skills.
Research and professional engagement
The Faculty promotes research in areas of contemporary legal importance and encourages collaboration with universities, research institutes, government agencies, professional bodies, NGOs, civil society organisations and other institutions locally and internationally.
Faculty members and students also participate in professional conferences, court visits, legal outreach programmes and other activities designed to connect classroom learning with contemporary legal practice.
Student development
Students are encouraged to participate in academic, professional and co-curricular activities that broaden their understanding of law and prepare them for professional practice. These include moot court activities, law clinic work, professional visits, conferences and community engagement.
The Faculty places particular emphasis on experiential learning, ethical responsibility, access to justice and the development of practical legal skills.
