General Admission Requirements

Application for admission to a course of study leading to a higher degree shall be made to the general public. Candidates shall normally be admitted twice a year and within the first four weeks of the first or second semester of every session subject to the peculiarities of the programmes and the recommendations of the Faculty and Departmental postgraduate committees.

Applicants Requirements

  1. Complete the application form on the University portal and ensure that the information submitted is accurate.
  2. Provide official transcripts of academic records covering all previous university studies.
  3. Submit three confidential letters of recommendation from referees familiar with the applicant and his/her work.
  4. Provide certified copies of degree certificates and/or diplomas, academic transcripts, NYSC discharge or exemption certificate where applicable, and any other required documents.
  5. Ensure official academic transcripts are forwarded directly from previous institutions to the School of Postgraduate Studies.
  6. Completed application forms must reach the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies not later than the specified date before admission.

Available Postgraduate Programmes

Degree types offered: Master's, PhD, MPhil, PGD - more programmes are being added as SPGS expands.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programme
  • Five credit passes including English, Mathematics, and three other relevant subjects at O'Level (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, etc).
  • Bachelor’s Degree not less than Third Class Division in the same or related discipline from Anchor University or any University recognized by the Senate of Anchor University.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least Second Class Lower Division in an unrelated discipline may be considered.
  • Duration: 2 semesters or one academic session for full-time and four semesters or two academic sessions for part-time PGD programmes.
  • Mode: Full-time / Part-time

Academic Master’s Degree Programmes
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline from Anchor University or another recognized university.
  • Applicants should normally hold at least a Second Class Lower Division or equivalent academic standing.
  • Relevant academic transcripts and departmental recommendations are required for admission review.
  • Duration varies by department and mode of study.
  • Mode: Full-time / Part-time where approved

Professional Master’s Degree Programmes
  • A recognized Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Professional or work experience may be considered where the department requires it.
  • Applicants must submit all supporting academic and professional documents during application.
