The B.Sc. Political Science programme provides students with a comprehensive understanding of political systems, governance, public administration, political theory, public policy, comparative politics, and international relations.
The programme seeks to develop critical thinkers capable of analysing political processes, understanding societal challenges, and contributing meaningfully to democratic governance and national development.
B.Sc. Political Science was the pioneer programme of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, admitting its first students on 6 February 2017 following NUC approval in November 2016.
Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills required for successful careers in government, international organisations, the diplomatic service, public administration, academia, and the private sector.
Programme requirement: Five credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Government or History, and any other two relevant subjects, obtained in WASSCE, SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent in not more than two sittings, with an acceptable UTME score. Candidates are expected to be at least 16 years of age.
JAMB subjects: English and any three relevant subjects.
Programme requirement: Five O'Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, and Government or History, plus one of: two A-Level passes in relevant subjects (GCE, IJMB, JUPEB or equivalent); an OND with a minimum of Lower Credit; an NCE with a minimum of Merit; or equivalent qualifications from recognised institutions.
